The Blogger Challenge concludes today. A challenge was issued and 18 daring educators answered the call. Some had never blogged before. A few had blogs, but had not written and reflected in a while. Students Earn Study Skills Badge

Students Earn Study Skills Badge After launching two student badges as a test pilot a few weeks before Thanksgiving, 13 students have earned the ‘Taskmaster’ badge. By earning this badge, students have demonstrated mastery of a set of age-appropriate, study skills. Specifically, they have demonstrated (as 5th Graders) the ability to use a student planner and calendar to monitor weekly and monthly assignments, events, and class schedules. The Power of Badging Since launching our faculty badging program in August, teachers have earned over 100 badges and provided some intriguing information related to mastery and learning needs. What does this data tell you about our faculty learning and the power of badging? We rocked it on Summer Learning. Folio, Drones, and Blogging are fairly strong. Student Feedback on ePortfolios Today, students met with their conference mentors to read an article and discuss how to make e-portfolios more relevant for students. Many students do not see the need or value in this practice yet. I led a conversation with about 30 students and loved hearing their thoughts, ideas, complaints, and obstacles because I believe so fully in the power and relevance of e-portfolios as a tool for learning.
