Letter from Head of Middle School – August 2014

Dear Middle School Families,

The 2014-2015 school year is well underway! Students and teachers have brought new life back to the classrooms and learning has commenced. Much has already happened this fall.

At Convocation, Dr. Jacobsen challenged each of us to be transformers.
At Chapel, we “started with questions” about our relationship with God.
At our annual Fall Sports Pep Rally, we celebrated all #MVMiddle student athletes.
At Curriculum Night, parents had a chance to meet and greet their children’s teachers.

Please take a moment to share your feedback in this Curriculum Night survey. Also, if you weren’t able to attend or wish to review, take a look at the four grade-level presentations, here:

Grade 5
Grade 6
Grade 7
Grade 8

Conference Day is coming up on Wednesday, September 24. If you would like to schedule a conference, please contact Melissa Thomas mthomas@mountvernonschool.org at extension 2100.

In case you did not receive one, MVPS School Directories are available in the MSAB with Ms. Thomas.

As we partner with you this year, our faculty and staff will embrace each of our MV Norms, especially the fourth: Assume the Best. Through my blog I invite you to read a more detailed explanation of how we will address situations if ever there is a gap between expectation and experience.

It is an honor and privilege to work with your children alongside an amazing faculty and incredibly supportive parents. I love my school!

Sincerely,

Chip Houston
Head of Middle School
